Opening for PHOX at The Roxy was a Daniel And The Lion, and we were there to snap some pics!
Daniel And The Lion played a solid set. Though they play as a quintet, their sound was warm and stripped-down. I enjoyed the playful energy their lead singer, Daniel Pingrey, injected into the performance.
Perhaps there was a bit of lull in the middle of their performance when they played a very slow and quiet ballad (it was a little too downtempo and had me feeling a bit anxious), but I was generally impressed with the potential of this band. Maybe a little bit The Head And The Heart mixed with some Bon Iver?
