My Love Letter To First City Festival

Dear First City Festival,

I think I love you. Please don’t change.

I know we haven’t known each other very long. In fact … I only met you last week … but that one glorious weekend was all it took to make me want to get to know you better.

Of all of the festivals I’ve ever met, your were festival that I had the most fun with. I couldn’t have have had more fun roaming your playground and enjoying your rides. Perhaps, that slice of spicy pizza before getting on your Orbiter wasn’t the best idea, but that was my fault, and I should have known better.

The way you got along with everybody makes me know that you are the festival for me. Everywhere I looked, everyone was smiling in your presence. I’ve never met a festival with so many smiling faces. Kids young and old basked with joy in your presence, and that speaks volumes on your personality. I’m assuming it’s that personality that attracted such good company. All of your friends I met were warm and friendly. I never felt an speckle of attitude from any of them the whole time I was with you.

Perhaps, it was the way you treated everyone. You kept your promises (all of the set times I attended started punctually), and you never kept anybody wanting for anything. Sure, you may have had to tend to VIPs with a little more attention, but truth be told, you treated everyone like VIPs. When we wanted a beer (a high quality craft beer, no less) or some of your fine culinary offerings, we never had to wait more than a few minutes. When I wanted to hear your friends sing, you seemed to always make enough room for me to dance to my heart’s content.

I loved roaming your grounds. I hate to sound creepy, but you’ve got the perfect setup. I hope I wasn’t moving to quickly, but it couldn’t be helped that I was able to wander from one stage to another in mere minutes. You had so many things going for you, that I couldn’t help explore. I hope I wasn’t being too forward.

I know that our encounter was brief, but I hope that I’ll be able to see you again in the future. I know, I know, I know … you won’t be coming back into town for another year, but I’ll be waiting. All I ask is that you please don’t change. You’re perfect the way you are.

Yours In Music,

Derrick
