SOUNDS LIKE:
THOUGHTS: Riff Raff. He started from the bottom now he’s here. He first came onto the scene as a contestant on MTV’s reality show “From G’s to Gents”, and he’s still a G. His eccentric style coupled with crazy lyrics are on full display with his latest album, “Neon Icon”, that was released earlier this year, and his performance at the Sunset Music Festival was filled with his catchy hooks and undeniable swagger. Perhaps the most amusing, and out of the box, moment of his performance was when he went “old school” and got his long, flowing locks braided during a song. Definitely a first for me.

On the second day of the BET Experience at L.A. Live, I decided to watch the various acts performing on the main stage of the convention center. Each of the acts performed short sets to give the audience a sampling of what their music was all about.
The last act I was able to catch at the BET Experience music festival was Lecrae; a Christian rapper who has amassed quite a loyal fan base through his crunk beats and his verses on Christ.
With a new album scheduled for release on September 9th, his 7th album titled “Anomoly”, there little doubt that he will soon be charting on Billboard’s Gospel Albums chart before the year’s end.

The fifth act I was able to catch was Elle Varner; an R&B artist who emerged during the early 2010s, whose single “Refill” charted in March 2012. Her debut album, “Perfectly Imperfect”, was one of the only female R&B albums that I purchased that year.
Currently working on her sophomore album, she recently released a single titled “Don’t Wanna Dance” featuring A$AP Ferg. If her follow up is anything like her debut, I’ll be sure to pick up a copy of it to add it to my collection.

The fourth act I was able to catch was Tiara Thomas; a singer-songwriter who had a hit as a featured artist on Wale‘s 2013 single “Bad“. Currently signed to Interscope Records, she is currently in the process of putting together debut, full-length album, tentatively titled “The Bad Influence”. A$AP Ferg | Coachella | 4/11/14 (PHOTOS)

After being ushered out of the photo pit for Grouplove, I decided to head over to the Outdoor Theatre in order to grab a bite to eat before setting up to take pictures of HAIM. A$AP Ferg was on stage bringing it with the A$AP Mob when all of a sudden I notice A$AP Rocky running on stage. In an almost instinctual motion, I started running towards the stage with my camera in tow.
Although photographers are typically only allowed to photograph either the first three songs or first 15 minutes, of an artist’s set in the photo pit, I somehow finagled my way into the photo pit and was able to take a few pictures of both A$AP Ferg and A$AP Rocky on stage together at Coachella.
Looking down at my watch I noticed that there was about 15 minutes left to his set, I decided to keep taking pictures until A$AP Ferg had donned a jacket that seemed to spray, streams of steam out of the sleeves. Considering that I had rented my lens, I decided that that was a good a time as any to leave the photo pit and grab a bit to eat. It was the first “special appearance” of an artist at the festival, and I think that one of the pics I snapped with Ferg and Rocky is a keeper. What do you think?
